In this month’s issue of Avenue magazine, the Karo Kaus was featured alongside some other impressive local groups that help "shape our communities and bring them to life." The winners of this Avenue A-list competition were selected based on their impact on the city, rather than the number of votes received.
The Karo Kaus fits with the A-list philosophy of making good things happen. It is not only about identifying community issues but taking action to fix them. Through the Kaus, Karo donates a total of $100,000 of creative services between two not-for-profit groups in Calgary and Vancouver. Chris Bedford, Karo president, explains: "We want to help two organizations develop meaningful brand experiences for their stakeholders and clients, which in turn will take them to the next level in attracting public and financial support."
The process for deciding what organizations would receive $50,000 each involved staff committees coming together to review the requests for services, interviewing the various organizations and then presenting the top cases to the larger company to decide what organizations would benefit from our services the most.
In this inaugural year for the Karo Kaus, we received 71 initial requests for services and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary and the Potluck Cafe Society of Vancouver the beneficiaries.
Already, Karo has worked with The Boys and Girls Club of Calgary to name their new arts and recreation centre "The Hangar", design the signage and interior wayfinding for the centre, and create advertising and invitations to support the launch of the centre on June 12th.
In Vancouver, Karo is working with the Potluck's Society to develop their branding, including a new logo, website and collateral materials.
