What do the Olympic flame, the suburb of Belcarra
and Karo have in common?
On February 11, all three will come together as Karo’s
own CFO, Joe Strasser, proudly carries the Olympic torch for the 2010 Winter
Olympic Games. Joining a privileged group of 12,000 Canadians, Joe will have
the honour of taking the Olympic torch 300 metres along Sunnyside Road in
Belcarra and a little closer to its final destination at BC Place.
Despite the 6:30 a.m. start, Joe is beaming about
being a torchbearer. “It’s amazing to think that this flame was first lit in
Greece and travelled over 45,000 kilometres across Canada to reach Vancouver.
During my run I’ll be representing not only Canada but also the Olympic Games,”
Joe says. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and an honour to be a part of
the Games. Go, Canada, go!”
We wish you all the best
for a great run, Joe!
Joe limbers up with some pre-run stretches.
And the all-important "waving-to-the-crowd-while-running" manoeuvre. Practice makes perfect, Joe.
