Karo Group is proud to announce the winners of its
2010 Karo Kaus creative services grant. This year, the $100,000 of creative
services will be split between Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta in
Calgary and Union Gospel Mission in Vancouver.
This employee-led program donates time and expertise to developing brand
strategy and multidisciplinary creative that helps recipients achieve their
brand and marketing goals. “In our work, we help clients remain competitive by
building relevant brand experiences that better position them in the
marketplace,” says Chris Bedford, President of Karo Group. “Karo Kaus is our
way of helping non-profit organizations achieve similar success.”
Karo thanks all the charities and non-profits that applied for this year’s
grant. We are always impressed by the professionalism of the applications and moved
by the outstanding contributions these groups make in our communities.
Please join us in congratulating the recipients of the 2010 Karo Kaus grant.
Kids
Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta
The Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta (KCCFA) helps Alberta children with cancer and their families navigate the cancer journey. Their guiding vision is to provide a cure for every child and care for every family. With this in mind, the KCCFA annually welcomes hundreds of
children and parents into a caring community, where healing and renewal take
place.
Dedicated
to fighting childhood cancer on all fronts, KCCFA raises money for programs in
four areas: camp, research and clinical support, hospital
programs and assistance to the children’s hospital staff and post-secondary
scholarships for childhood cancer survivors.
“We are thrilled to be one of this year’s Karo
Kaus recipients,” says Christine Wandzura, KCCFA’s Chief Executive Officer.
“This grant will help us go places with our marketing, communications and
fundraising. We’re really looking forward to having Karo help us achieve our
goals.”
Union Gospel Mission
Union Gospel Mission (UGM) is a non-profit urban relief organization committed to caring for the
hungry, hurting and homeless of Metro Vancouver and the City of Mission.
Providing without discrimination a comprehensive range of life-changing
programs and services, UGM helps men and women dealing with homelessness,
addiction and poverty find a safe haven and rebuild their lives, in the process
offering dignity to those who feel cast aside.
“The perception in Vancouver is that UGM is a soup
kitchen that offers emergency beds,” says Warren Baxter, Managing Director of
Karo Group Vancouver. “The truth is that UGM has a number of programs that work
hard to get people off the street and into homes permanently. Karo’s work with
UGM will help reshape this common misperception and reposition UGM to attract
greater levels of public support and funding.”
Bill Mollard, President of UGM, was ecstatic when he heard the news. “This partnership will be a springboard to increasing awareness of the work we do, and in turn it will become an integral component to creating long-term sustainability as we work to eradicate homelessness in
Vancouver.”
