For Immediate release April 28th 2008:  For the second year in a row, Karo Group has been named one of the top ten workplaces in Canada.  The annual Best Workplaces in Canada survey is presented by the Great Places to Work® Institute Canada and appeared in a special national report on Monday April 28th, 2008 in the Globe and Mail.

With offices in Calgary and Vancouver, Karo is Western Canada’s leading interdisciplinary branding agency and is committed to making its 79 employees the primary focus.

That includes helping a copywriter tend bees on the roof of the Calgary office or making it easy for a project manager to volunteer to help orphans in Ethiopia. We also cheer as an architect in our Environments department cleans up with her clothing collection at Toronto Fashion Incubator's New Labels competition.

Karo employees get full support as they throw “Just Because” parties, give tastings and tutorials of Okanagan wineries or prepare gourmet meals on the office barbecue.

Karo President, Chris Bedford, says “Fundamentally, we believe that our business is a team sport and we win or lose together, so we do everything we can to set up our people for maximum success.”

In 2007, Karo hired 28 talented and creative people (36% growth) in the Calgary and Vancouver offices.  “We’re playing in the most competitive job market in North America in an industry notorious for rapid turnover” says Bedford.  “Yet we are consistently able to attract and retain the best and the brightest creative talent in Western Canada which in turn attracts the best clients,” he says.

The list of 50 Best Workplaces in Canada will appear in a special national report on Monday, April 28th, 2008 in the Globe and Mail.

This list of “Best Workplaces in Canada” is compiled by Great Place to Work® Institute Canada.  The competition process is based on two criteria: two-thirds of the total score comes from a 57-statement survey completed by a random selection of employees, along with their open-ended comments about their organization; the remaining one-third of the score comes from an in-depth review of the organization’s culture, including an evaluation of HR policies and procedures. This offers a rigorous representation of the organization from an employee perspective, and an overall portrait of the workplace culture. Together, they provide crucial data relative to the five trust-building dimensions of a great place to work®: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.  More than 24,000 employees from over 160 companies participated in the 2008 “Best Workplaces in Canada” survey.

Karo Group Inc. is Western Canada’s leading interdisciplinary brand agency with nearly 80 staff in offices in Calgary and Vancouver. Karo’s clients are among the leading brands in Canada with regional, national and global reach.
