Shaw Tower Interior Design

2006

THE CHALLENGE    To create functional spaces for a large, varied client programme while fostering positive customer perception and an energized corporate culture, and encouraging stakeholder confidence. Subsequent to an interior branding study for its numerous facilities, Shaw Communications engaged Karo Design as part of an extended team to develop this new strategy and apply it as an interior design solution to their new facility in downtown Vancouver.

THE KARO SOLUTION    Transparency, colour and lighting serve as the key design elements. Colour is almost always applied in a two-step process where light interacts with it to signify vertical connections from floor to floor, with consistent detailing throughout. The building’s prominent location is enhanced by illuminated, coloured glass boxes in the interior that are visible from the street, the harbour and beyond. These give Shaw a public, almost playful face that complements both the entertainment the company provides and the technology used to deliver it.

THE RESULT    The design strategy and visual language of the working environment created a vibrant, interactive and functional space that celebrates innovation and collaboration. For staff and clients, it is a great place to be.
