BC Ministry of Attorney General

Court Services Online: an online system for submitting documents to the court registry

2001

THE CHALLENGE    The Ministry wanted to test the feasibility of a secure online system for submitting a wide range of sensitive legal forms to the court registry. Karo was asked to develop a prototype application that could be integrated smoothly into the workflow of a typical law firm.

THE KARO SOLUTION    Karo designed and developed a high-fidelity prototype of Court Services Online for user testing. Our prototype realistically simulated the process of selecting, creating, digitally signing and paying for court document submissions. We incorporated a "packaging" concept to establish the order and relationship between multiple documents submitted online.

THE RESULT    Users found it easy to "test-drive" the system and provided useful feedback for refinements. Based on a strongly positive response and evidence that the system would save time and money, the Attorney General approved funding for a multi-million dollar implementation program. Ministry staff were impressed with Karo's ability to interpret complex business processes with a web application, and with our quick turnaround time on a very challenging project.
