Interior Design of Lake Bonavista Village

2001

THE CHALLENGE    Beutel Goodman wanted to redefine the concept of “retirement home” when designing Lake Bonavista Village, a residence for upscale, more affluent and active seniors in the 65-plus age range. Karo was asked to create an interior environment that met safety and ergonomic considerations, while embodying “elegant comfort.”

THE KARO SOLUTION    The team at Karo believes the key to creating successful environments is to keep the end user in mind at every step of the design process. They worked with the team of owners, architects, and engineering consultants to devise a visual style based on a blend of renowned 20th-century art movements. Featuring elements of the Arts & Crafts innovation of Frank Lloyd Wright and the Art Deco inspirations of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the interior design was both elegant and livable. Safety and ergonomic considerations were present, but not intrusive. No detail was left to chance, from wall sconces to lobby fireplaces to dining room linen.

THE RESULT    Karo was able to meet the dual challenge of staying on budget during the busy construction and implementation phases of this residential complex, while meeting the needs of the end users, to creating an environment where people would be happy to live and be proud to invite their family and friends to visit.
