Momento: A new fashion retailer boutique

2000

THE CHALLENGE    Boboli, a high-end fashion retailer, wanted to increase sales in a low traffic area tucked away at the rear of a large boutique on Vancouver's upscale South Granville Street. The client asked Karo to give this area a unique brand identity, turning it into a showcase for Boboli’s own collection of tasteful weekend wear.

THE KARO SOLUTION    Karo created Boboli Momento, a hip and quirky boutique-within-a-boutique, complete with its own distinctive logo, packaging and interior design. We created a giant clock of glass, metal, and bright gold automotive paint. Suspended dramatically, the clock served as a metaphor for relaxation and leisure: time suspended. Cool, neutral colours, curving pine shelving, and kraft paper packaging with whimsical sun and moon elements contributed to the playful, relaxed environment. We minimized costs and disruption by making very few changes to the existing store architecture.

THE RESULT    Sales of the Momento product line exceeded all of Boboli's projections. Consumers responded enthusiastically, and Canada's leading fashion magazine, Flare, called Momento “. . . one of Vancouver's hippest new casual wear boutiques”.
